Disgusting Illegal Dumping Near a Montana Lake
You would hope that maybe there would be a clue in the debris. An envelope. A receipt. Maybe a revealing bar code on one of the discarded items.
Sadly, that does not appear to be the case. But Montana's Bureau of Land Management is putting up a reward to anyone who might be able to help solve this sickening offense.
The Bureau of Land Management is offering a reward of up to $500 for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of those responsible for dumping more than 30 pails of oil on public land that the Bureau of Land Management manages near Hauser Lake in the Helena area.
The field office is investigating the dump site, which was discovered earlier this month, along Deer Park Road, just off Hauser Dam Road. Among the other garbage left on the side of the road, officials found 35 five-gallon buckets containing automotive oil.
Very sad situation. And it's a long shot, but the BLM has asked us to help spread the word. Anyone having information about this crime is urged to call Bureau of Land Management Law Enforcement at 406-441-1115. If you know anyone who lives in that area, let them know about it. Or you recreate there, do you recall seeing anything suspicious?
Thanks, on behalf of the Montana BLM.
