It's been crazy to see people posting pictures and videos of snowflakes around Missoula today. Oh man, I'm not sure I can handle all of that yet! My body isn't ready to go from shorts and t-shirts of last week's 80-degree weather to sweatshirts and jackets that were needed today. If the breezy and chilly day had you reeling a bit, just think about those that are experiencing a Montana winter for the first time.

Have you heard of them?

Are you familiar with the work of Soft Landing Missoula? Their website explains that they "strive to help Missoula, MT be a welcoming, supportive and informed community that can assist refugees and immigrants to integrate and thrive." The organization is holding its fifth annual winter clothes drive to help families prepare for the cold weather that's headed our way.

A great event to help new community members

Soft Landing Missoula is looking for donations as families are already looking for winter gear. They're accepting donations at their office (939 Stephens Ave, Suite C) Mon-Thur 10 AM - 4 PM, and Friday from 10 AM - 2 PM. If you have winter items that you no longer use or your kids have outgrown, they would be glad to take them off your hands.

What they're looking for

You can donate gently used gloves/mittens, hats, scarves, snow pants, snow boots, and winter-proof coats in adult and kids sizes. Those are the only items they're currently looking for. No sweaters. And no items that are ripped, stained, or have broken zippers. See the list here.

LOOK: Here is the richest town in each state

Just saying the names of these towns immediately conjures up images of grand mansions, luxury cars, and ritzy restaurants. Read on to see which town in your home state took the title of the richest location and which place had the highest median income in the country. Who knows—your hometown might even be on this list.
