The New York Times Brings Attention to Montana’s MMIWG Problem
EDIT: About an hour after I published this article, it was announced that Selena Not Afraid's body had been found. She was just 16-years-old. My heart goes out to her family.
I was going to use the word "epidemic," but that would be an incorrect word to describe the horror that is Montana's Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women/Girls problem. An epidemic implies a sudden increase. The number of murdered Natives in Montana hasn't suddenly increased, especially the murders and mysterious deaths of Native women. Thankfully, these kinds of stories that haven't gotten any attention in the past, are getting attention now, with hope that awareness will help our daughters/nieces/aunties/mothers/cousins come home.
The New York Times has shared the following article, highlighting Montana's Selena Not Afraid case, and bringing the MMIWG movement to the masses.
