Calling all parade fans who were disappointed about the cancelation of this year's Homecoming parade down Higgins! You can still parade, come one, come all!

Missoula mom Kelly Durbin is a U of M Homecoming parade fanatic, and she just couldn't stand the thought of not being able to attend for the second year in a row, so she got a permit to throw her own, and the public is welcome. Of course it's not even about her love of the parade, she feels bad that local kids are missing out on being able to strut their stuff in such an iconic, annual Missoula event, so she jumped through all the hoops, and here we are with a Homecoming morning parade!

It's set to begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 25th at the Missoula Fairgrounds. It was all put together at the last minute, but there is a registration link for businesses who want to participate. There's no entry fee but registration is required. The theme is, “The People’s Parade," a celebration of the people of Missoula and what you love. And the float decorating theme is a celebration of you, your family, your organization, your school, anything that you want to celebrate is encouraged! You wanna bring your kids on their bikes or in a wagon with the dogs on leashes? Sounds awesome! A group of friends with a rainbow theme? Hell yeah. Bring it on Missoula!

Homecoming activities have been in action all week, but the U of M parade was canceled for several reasons, mostly because Beartracks Bridge on the parade route is still under construction. Ms. Durbin is so certain that The People's Parade is going to be a huge deal, that she's even got porta-potties out there. It's worth checking out before you head to your tailgate, the game, or whatever you have planned for Saturday. It'll be a good excuse for the kids to get outside and enjoy the sunshine!
