The Missoula County Attorney’s Office charged 14 new criminal complaints this week, which is the same amount as last week and right around the weekly average. According to County Attorney Kirsten Pabst, six of those cases involved interpersonal violence.

“In one of those, we charged an assault on a minor,” Pabst said. “The allegation there is that the defendant, who was intoxicated, kicked her minor son. In another, we charged strangulation and criminal mischief. In that case, the defendant allegedly attacked her ex-boyfriend, kicking, punching, biting, and squeezing his neck.”

In addition, there were two non-family violent cases and they both involved attacks or threats against law enforcement.

“In one, the defendant allegedly made threats against the officer and his family while she was being booked and released,” Pabst said. “In another, the security team notified law enforcement that someone appeared to be in an abandoned building that they patrol. Law enforcement found the juvenile suspect in the basement. He did not comply with orders and was acting strangely. When they attempted to handcuff him, he allegedly attacked the law enforcement officers and caused some fairly serious injuries.”

Pabst said her office also charged two new property crimes. One was a deceptive practices case and the other was a theft case. In one, the defendant dressed in a disguise and used the victim’s credit cards to purchase $1,500 worth of items from a local business. In the other, the defendant and his girlfriend allegedly stole $3,000 worth of items from that same business.

“In the drug category, we had four new cases,” Pabst said. “We had a meth, a meth, a sale of meth, and then finally an alleged possession of cocaine and marijuana.”
