A group of mountain bikers found an obstacle on the Warm Springs Trail #103 that was too large to cross. Tod McKay of the Bitterroot National Forest said that a wide avalanche has completely covered the trail a few feet deep (see photo above). Forest officials said the landslide of trees, rocks and snow probably happened early spring and has made the trail impassible.

McKay said the avalanche happened at mile post 5.0 from the Crazy Creek Campground. The blocked trail has also closed access to the Two Good Cabin, a rental cabin southwest of Sula. A forest service crew will be assigned to clear the debris. For more information, called the Darby/Sula Ranger District at (406) 821-3913.
