Montana has become a pretty major hub for film activity recently. Here's just a quick rundown of some of the news we've seen in recent months.

Some Recent Montana Film News

The new season of Yellowstone - which filmed in Missoula, Hamilton, and Darby - is finally set to premiere in November.

It was announced that Nicolas Cage would be filming two westerns back-to-back in Montana.

The Montana Film Festival is returning to in-person screenings at The Roxy Theater this year, and features a great lineup of films - many of which were filmed in the state. (Including Montana Story, which has already been making the rounds at some other festivals.)

A New Film Studio is Coming to Butte

And with all the new productions that have been coming through Montana, the state is going to need more production studios to accommodate them.

Montana Studios, who are currently located on East Broadway in Butte, are taking up residence in the former NorthWestern Energy building, according to KPAX. The studio worked with Yellowstone when the show was filming in Montana, and members of the studio have worked on movies like A River Runs Through ItRaging Bull, and Titanic.

The new building is a much larger space for the production studio, and the crew plans to utilize the talented creative community that Butte already has.

It's exciting to see the film industry in Montana continue to grow like this. Are you looking forward to any of the projects announced so far?
