It's hard to believe, but both the FBS College Football and the NFL made it through their seasons without having to throw in the towel somewhere in the middle. There was so much uncertainty about how either one would be able to make it through a football season in the middle of a pandemic. Yes, there were some issues. Some college teams opted not to play the season. Players for both leagues missed games after positive COVID-19 tests - or being deemed close contacts to those that had. Some college games were canceled and weren't rescheduled. But overall, it seems things went as smooth as anybody could have hoped for. Fingers crossed it continues with the NFL playoffs just getting ready to start.

We were having a conversation in the building today about the postponed Griz football season that's scheduled to start at the end of February. It seems like it's been forever since the details on the season were announced. If you forgot what's happening in these crazy COVID times, allow me to refresh you. The Griz will play six games, beginning Feb. 27th at Northern Arizona, ending at Washington-Grizzly Stadium on April 10th, and featuring a Brawl of the Wild game against Montana State here at home on March 27th.

There's no word yet about what attendance will look like for any of the upcoming contests - but it's pretty certain things will be different than the packed house we would love to have at Washington-Grizzly Stadium. Right now we're just waiting to see if anybody will be able to attend a game in person this year.

And while we may not be able to be in the stand this year - this is a pretty cool bit of recognition for Griz fans. The College Football Network just held a bracket competition that asked fans to vote on their favorite stadiums in college football. It looks they started with a field of 64 and cut it in half every round. Pretty cool to see Washington-Grizzly Stadium snagged the top spot for best small school stadium.

I was reading through some of the comments on the Twitter page and really liked this one from Nathan Eastlick:

"I really think that Montana could support a professional team like Green Bay does. If they were based in Butte it would be a fairly easy drive from Missoula, Helena, Great Falls, Bozeman, and Billings. Montana would fill that stadium week in and week out!"

Hey NFL, are you listening? Go ahead and award Montana a franchise! It'll be our own little Field of Dreams situation - if you build it.......they will come!

Oh.....and also congrats to Carroll College in Helena for topping the list for the NAIA division!
