It's no surprise to see Montana take the #1 spot in a list of the friendliest cities in the country, congratulations go out to the residents of Whitefish on being named the friendliest city in the U.S. according to travelers who have visited.

The poll is based on Expedia reviews that used the words like "friendly, friendliest, and amiable." Considering that Whitefish is a gateway to Glacier National Park, the resort town gets thousands of out-of-state visitors each year. And it's clear that the 7,700 or so people who live and work in Whitefish know how to represent Montana in the best way possible, with kindness.

In order, the rest of the list included: Sister Bay, Wisconsin, Manitou Springs, Colorado, Easton, Maryland, Lihue, Hawaii, Sierra Vista, Arizona, Kennebunkport, Maine, Chincoteague, Virginia, Ogunquit, Maine, and Provincetown, Massachusetts rounding out the top 10 with reviews that included the word "friendly."

And how can any outdoor enthusiast NOT love Whitefish? It's Montana, so the scenery is gorgeous, no matter what season you visit. They've got skiing, mountain biking trails for all levels of riders, the sandy City Beach at Whitefish Lake with nice boat launches and picnic areas, and fun, resort town shopping and dining along Central Avenue. Just writing about it makes me want to visit Whitefish this summer!

Whitefish Fun Fact: the Salish name is epɫx̣ʷy̓u, meaning "has whitefish." See the full top 20 friendliest cities in U.S. list here, it just might spark a summer vacation idea!
