It's the time of the year for visions of sugarplums to be dancing in our heads. But if you're a skier or snowboarder - the visions you're probably seeing are you shredding through some powder as you make your way down a mountainside. That sounded pretty official didn't it? I used shredding and powder in that sentence like I almost knew what I was talking about.

I've never tried skiing but it looks like a ton of fun. It also seems like an expensive hobby with the equipment and the cost of lift tickets and season passes. I have a friend with younger kids and every time I see their pictures on social media I can only imagine how much money they shell out for a family of five. I guess the good part about having multiple kids that ski is you can pass the equipment down as the oldest grows out of it.

If you're ready to get on the mountain - Snowbowl had a couple big announcements on their social media page today that might be of interest.

Snowbowl will open for the season tomorrow and be open daily except for Christmas. You can take advantage of discounted lift tickets until Saturday (12/26.) That means there's still time to save money as you pick up a few last minute gift items for friends and family. Or, you could always surprise yourself with a little something......you deserve it.

Check out the snow report, trail map, tickets and passes, and more at Montana Snowbowl's website.
