As predicted, fresh snow fell in the higher mountains of southwestern Montana overnight and into Wednesday morning, June 17. A moisture-packed weather system slid into the area this week, adding heavy rain to the Bitterroot Valley and snow on the road at Lost Trail and Chief Joseph Passes at the south end of Ravalli County. Forecasters are predicting the end of the current weather system by Wednesday night, followed by a warming trend and plenty of sunshine for the weekend - with Saturday being the first official day of Summer. Temperatures are expected to zomm back into the upper 70s by Saturday and Sunday.
