Peter Murphy’s planned June residency at San Francisco’s The Chapel has been postponed as the former Bauhaus frontman is being treated for a vocal cord ailment that has left unable to talk, let alone sing.

The 15-night residency that was to feature work from throughout the Godfather of Goth's career has been rescheduled for January 2018, according to a statement on his website.

“Doctors discovered nodules on [Murphy’s] vocal cords for which he will be undergoing treatment followed by an extended period of recovery before attempting to use his voice again,” the statement reads.

In the above video of Murphy flipping through hand-written statements, he wrote, "As you can see, I'm not allowed to sing or speak for a while. Doctor's orders. I must rest my vocal cords. See you soon when this is over. Love Peter."

Murphy's residency will be a retrospective of his solo albums in their entirety, including his solo debut, Should the World Fail to Fall Apart (1986), as well as Love Hysteria (1988), Deep (1989), Holy Smoke (1992) and Cascade (1995) and Ninth (2011). He'll also play an acoustic "Stripped" set, similar to his latest world tour, and the schedule was recently updated to conclude with two Mr. Moonlight shows, featuring Bauhaus classics.

Tickets go on sale Friday, April 28. Tickets for the originally scheduled June residency will be honored, or refunded on request.
