Our Town Is Cooler Than Yours. Missoula Tweed Ride Is A Go

The phrase "Keep Missoula Weird" exists for a reason. I mean what's normal about dressing up in a tweed suit and riding an antique bicycle around with your friends?

I've lived in Missoula on and off for about twenty years. I can tell you with full honesty about once a week I learn of an ongoing tradition or event that puts a smile on my face because it is so weird and funny.  Just last week I learned about an upcoming goat race at our local brewery. A freekin goat race, you guys!

Then today, as I perused Facebook, I get a notification for the 12th annual Tweed Ride. Again, I've lived here for twenty years and I've never heard of such a thing, but apparently, it's been going on for a while, and it's pretty big.

The Tweed Ride is an excuse for you and your friends to dress up in tweed, wool, or other old-fashioned attire, hop on an old-timey bike, and cruise Missoula like you were in Britain circa 1932, and yes, there will be tea involved. This is a family-friendly, relaxed ride through town. The event will start at Free Cycles (732 S 1st ST. W) around noon on Sunday, October 16th. This year's ride will only have one tea stop but will include some "best of" contests.

Everyone with tweed clothing and a bike are encouraged to join! This is a free event.
