The Missoula County Attorney’s Office was happy to report that crime numbers dropped back into the single digits last week. County Attorney Kirsten Pabst says her office filed nine new cases and a majority of them fell under the criminal endangerment category.

“There was a high-speed chase involving a teenager in the car,” Pabst said. “There was a defendant that was allegedly under the influence of prescription medications, crossing the center lines, and then nearly striking another vehicle with a child in that vehicle as well. There was a third situation where there was a crash and there was a baby on board.”

According to Pabst, a dangerous felony DUI took place last week as well.

“This defendant was stopped going 93 mph in a 65 mph zone and allegedly had lots of alcohol on board,” Pabst said. “There was a burglary involving some residences. That same defendant had gotten in some trouble for allegedly stealing some musical instruments. The burglaries evolved into three assaults on police officers. It sounds like there was quite a melee.”

There was a felony theft case where the defendant allegedly stole a really nice F-150 and then fell asleep in a local parking lot. Authorities also nabbed someone for meth. The defendant in that case was charged with felony possession with intent to distribute.
