Montana Grizzly Football Severely Stung by Hornets

The first possession of the game had a positive vibe for the Montana Grizzly football team. And then reality set in. And in. And in. And in.

The Griz committed 12 penalties, gave up big play after big play, both in the air and on the ground and the quarterbacks (correct-plural) endured numerous sacks, as the Sacramento State Hornets completely dominated Montana, 49-22, in Sacramento, California Saturday evening.

Montana jumped out to 7-0 lead just one minute into the first quarter on a 64-yard run by Jerry Louis McGee. Sacramento state came back with 18 unanswered first-quarter points of their own and were never really threatened after that.

Of longer-term concern may be the injury to Griz quarterback Dalton Sneed, who left the game in the third quarter with what appeared to be a foot injury. We had no further details on that injury at press time.

The outcome of the game will likely have a profound effect on Montana's national ranking, with a big showdown at home next Saturday against Eastern Washington.
