The proposed plans for a new Montana Fishing Access Site are being developed by Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP). FWP is seeking public input on its plan to accept a donation of about seven acres of private property along the Bitterroot River at the Stevensville Bridge. The new owner of the Fort Owen Ranch has been working with the FWP to improve recreation facilities and restore and protect the streambank. The City of Stevensville would be involved, allowing parking on some of their land.

Plans being discussed are improved parking, designated boat launch area, a concrete latrine, fencing, gravel road access, a primitive camping area, trail connections and new signs. The draft Environmental Assessment is online at the FWP website. It is under "News" and then "Recent Public Notices." For more information, call (406) 542-5540. Comments are due by 5 p.m. July 6, 2018.
