With the retirement of current MCPS Superintendent Mark Thane at the end of the school year, the Board of Trustees has been busy reaching out throughout the nation for potential candidates, and has settled on three, one from Bozeman, one from Wisconsin, and one from Pennsylvania.

Communications Director Hatton Littman identified the three candidates.

“We have three finalists,” began Littman. “One is Robert Watson, who is currently the Superintendent of Bozeman Public Schools. We also have Jan Haven from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and we also have David Baugh who is from Pennsylvania in a district just outside Philadelphia.”

Littman said this week the three finalists will all be in Missoula to meet with the Board of Trustees and with the public, as well.

“It’s really important that the community knows they have multiple opportunities to interact with the finalists,” she said. “They can observe the public board meetings that will be conducted to interview the finalists, and they can also come to the meet and greet session, which will be at Sentinel High School on Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the dining room.”
