We may well see more savings at the pump yet!

Spotted on Russell St in Missoula, the Ole's Conoco station is selling 87 octane for juuuuuuust under $4.90/gallon on Friday.

The decrease in gas prices around Missoula will likely continue as energy stocks dip (as we covered HERE) and Montanans tighten their belts, preparing for worse economic conditions.

Heading into the weekend, Missoula County is among 11 Montana counties averaging $4.95 a gallon.

Ravalli, Lake, Powell and Lewis & Clark Counties are faring (no pun intended, Uber/Lyft drivers) a little better, with average prices closer to the $4.90/gallon mark.

In comparison to what we were paying at the pump last year; 87 octane gas in the State of Montana was averaging $3.17/gallon as of July of 2022 as reported by AAA.

It's so wild paying 64% more for the exact same product we were using last year

The silver lining news for working class Montanans is that the lower gas prices are a welcome sight as the march back to the office continues; daily commute times are returning to pre-pandemic levels and the money we were used to saving on gas consumption disappears.

Are we going to see future price drops? Let me know below!

As we said in the previous speculative piece on whether we could expect more savings at the pump this summer, how much money you pull out of your wallet to put gas in your rig depends on many factors, including the trading price of crude oil - which at the time of this writing is at over $100/barrel after a dip over the Fourth of July weekend.
