KiidTruth is a musician and performer from the Flathead Reservation who is using his music to spread the word to kids and teens that hand washing and face masks are important to stop the spread of COVID-19. I saw KiidTruth speaking on both KECI and the KPAX news saying that the 12 to 18 year old demographic are really the ones we need to get the word to about staying safe during the pandemic, especially because these kids value their elders so very much on the Reservation.

I couldn't agree more. I was speaking with my cousin at Sunday's BLM event at Caras and we were discussing the details of tonight's MMIWG event, and how we absolutely needed to enforce face masks. That's when my 16-year-old chimed in with "yeah, because all of the Yayas are going to be there." Yayas are maternal Grandmothers, and our culture cherishes them and strives to protect all of our elders.

With that said, KiidTruth hit the nail on the head with his contest for youth. He knew that TikTok is the way to reach young people with the message to keep up the hand washing and face masks, even though Montana has moved into Phase 2 of re-opening. And he couldn't have dropped his his song "C-19" at a better time, as 4 cases of COVID-19 are now confirmed in Lake County.

If you are 12 to 18 years old (you should probably have permission from a parent or guardian), simply upload your own TikTok video for the CSKT COVID Challenge using the following hashtags.

KiidTruth says the first teen to hit 500 likes or closest to 500 wins a $100 gift card! Please direct any questions regarding this contest to his Facebook page.
