Descendents Ponder ‘Who We Are’ in Trump’s America

Descendents made a glorious return last summer with Hypercaffium Spazzinate, their first full-length in 12 years. Considering the frenzy surrounding the highly anticipated LP and its resulting tour over the past year, one could forgive the SoCal punk legends for steering clear of the political water cooler. That changes today, with the arrival of the band's new song "Who We Are," a scorching rebuke of the right that Milo Aukerman and company penned in the aftermath of the 2016 election.

"Woke up this morning to a different world / They're stomping on immigrants and groping girls," Aukerman laments, before enlisting the audience in a call to action: "Take it outside, shout it loud as you can / Defend the rights of every woman and man / That's who we are." Talk is cheap, of course, so it's only fitting that Descendents have decided to donate proceeds from the song to the ACLU, Planned Parenthood and the Southern Poverty Law Center. Listen below.
