Day 1 vs Day 50 of the Quarantine and Working from Home
I have been talking a lot lately about how the working from home thing is not all it is cracked up to be. It is actually more of a "be careful what you wish for" kind of thing. I used to daydream about the day my career led me to something tha would allow me to do what I am doing. Sleeping in slightly on a weekday, waking up and brewing coffee, sipping my coffee in PJ pants, as I prep for my show and all without the thought of having to leave the house.
Well, day 1 of the quarantine/work from home, I was living that dream. And I did it with a huge smile on my face. Obviously their was a learning curve on how to properly broadcast my radio show from inside my bedroom, but I made it work. But as the weeks went on the "honeymoon was over." Homeschooling a 1st grader became part of my routine, on top of doing the radio show. And so did having to "hush" the dog and a 7 year old just about every 10 minutes. Eventually the entusiasum for working from home turned into a constant drain on my mental well being.
Thankfully, the state is slowly starting to open back up. And aside from the homeschooling and zoom meetings with teachers, I look forward to going back into work and getting back to a normal way of life. First things first, I need a haircut.
