Continuing a tradition from years past, Coachella's organizers have announced plans to make portions of the festival's first weekend available to stream through a free webcast.

Pitchfork reports that the stream will be available through Coachella's YouTube page, and offer sets from more than 50 acts in all throughout the opening weekend, scheduled for April 14-16 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, Calif. Hosting duties are expected to be handled by KCRW music director Jason Bentley and journalist, comedian and activist Francesca Fiorentini.

Headlining sets from Radiohead, Kendrick Lamar, and Lady Gaga are expected to be part of the livestream, along with performances from supporting acts including the xx, Bon Iver, Lorde, Father John Misty, and New Order.

Variety offers a technical breakdown of what viewers can expect from the stream, noting that Coachella's YouTube feed will offer three different channels, as well as a 360-degree viewing mode for "select performances" and a "hub" featuring on-demand highlights culled from the entire weekend. For the first time, the festival is also offering footage of its "famous underground dance-music Yuma tent" as well as browser alerts notifying fans when sets from their favorite acts are ready to begin.

Although the exact specifics regarding which artists' sets will actually stream have yet to be announced, this year marks the seventh consecutive Coachella to offer free streaming. For those who still hope to attend in person but haven't yet purchased tickets, a limited number of passes still appear to be available for the festival's second weekend.
