One person is dead following an early morning hit-and-run incident involving a pedestrian in Missoula. Law enforcement responded to the scene in the 3000 block West Broadway at around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday. When officers arrived, they found a body lying in the roadway and discovered the vehicle suspected to be responsible had left the scene.

According to Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh, the driver involved in the incident has been apprehended. The names of the victim and the driver are not being released at this time.

Here is an official statement from the Missoula Police Department:

On March 3, 2020 at approximately 6:30 AM Missoula Police responded to the report of CPR “in progress” on a person down in the roadway; 3100 block of W. Broadway. Officers determined that a pedestrian, identified as a 63-year-old male, was struck by a vehicle that had left the scene. A witness described the vehicle as a white Pontiac Grand Am with one occupant and was last seen leaving the area westbound on Broadway. MPD Officers located the vehicle and the 34-year-old male driver in the 5800 block of Sandpiper Dr. MPD Detectives are conducting an interview with the driver at the Missoula Police Department. The scene on W. Broadway is clear and all lanes are open for regular travel. Welsh says they are in consult with the Missoula County Attorney’s Office in regard to this investigation and they are keeping them updated as they progress.
