I've spent so much time writing articles about events that are NOT happening thanks to COVID, so it's a pretty nice change of pace to talk about one that actually is.

The Zootown Arts Community Center is planning to move ahead and continue to hold their 9th Annual Mini Show Benefit Auction at Ten Spoon Winery on May 22nd. This is a pretty different move than many of these kinds of events have taken, which have either been cancelled or shifted to a virtual-only presentation. But this event will take place live, with "a gorgeous outdoor setting, tables sold to social pods, masks required when not seated, and all auction betting online (via cellphone) to avoid gathering at betting cards."

It sounds like they're taking as many precautions as possible to keep the event safe while still allowing it to happen. If you're not familiar with the Mini Auction, this is where people can bid for tons of local artwork submitted by artists, all to raise money for the ZACC.

If you're an artist, you should know that your last day to submit artwork will be Thursday, April 1st. The online auction will officially open on Friday, May 7th. You can find out all the details at the ZACC's Facebook event page.

It's great that they're able to keep the tradition alive, and even better that it seems like they'll get to do it in person. Will you be checking out the Mini Show to help out the ZACC and support local artists?
