Watch Social Distortion Jam with Bruce Springsteen in Asbury Park
Social Distortion frontman Mike Ness has been pals with Bruce Springsteen ever since the New Jersey legend guested on "Misery Loves Company" on Ness' 1999 solo debut Cheating at Solitaire. Springsteen is a frequent guest when Ness does solo shows, or plays with Social D, in Asbury Park. So it wasn't a huge surprise when he joined the band for their performance at the first annual Sea.Hear.Now festival in Asbury Park last night (September 30).
Still, the audience was thrilled to see the hometown hero join the band for three songs. Watch a performance of the Social D. classic "Bad Luck" below.
Springsteen also joined the band for "Misery Loves Company" and Social D's cover of Johnny Cash's "Ring Of Fire."
If that wasn't exciting enough for fans, they also played two new songs, "Over You" and "Born to Kill," from their upcoming album. Ness said that the band is working on the record, but joked that it won't be out too soon. Their last album, Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes came out in 2011, and that was their first album in seven years (the prior album being 2004's Sex, Love and Rock 'n' Roll).
Social Distortion will be on the road in October; to see their dates here. Don't expect any more Springsteen appearances; he's still in the midst of his run of shows on Broadway.
