Spooky Readers’ Theater at Hamilton Playhouse Oct. 30

October 30, the night before Halloween, the Hamilton Players will line their dark and spooky stage with storytellers. It's the annual free "Grave Readings," short stories that are mysterious and just down-right creepy, read by actors with all the appropriate energy for a ghost story or two or three, starting at 7 p.m. The annual event has the readers in a row, seated, with individual lights that turn on when the story starts and go out when the story is finished.

Selections this year include classics such as "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson, two tales from Edgar Allen Poe, an adaptation of "The Monkey's Paw," and between the main stories will be collections of ""2-sentence Scary Stories" that add a quick scare or laugh to the evening. It's a free evening for the public, but there is a bake sale in the lobby, which will earn money for the Hamilton Players theater group. By the way, readers theaters will continue at the playhouse November 16 with "Equus" and December 21 with "A Christmas Carol." Shows start at 7 p.m. each night.
