My Chemical Romance + Katy Perry Mashup Makes Mourning Upbeat

Just because you're sad doesn't mean you have to be downbeat. If you need proof of that, then check out the latest Grave Danger mashup, which takes the tragedy and angst of lost loved ones delivered in a pair of My Chemical Romance and Katy Perry songs and somehow lightens the mood in the process.

Grave Danger has been putting his production skills to use with a YouTube page filled with a variety of mashups, including recent pairings of Imagine Dragons with Beastie Boys, Marilyn Manson with Black Sun Empire and Quad City DJs with Ozzy Osbourne.

This latest effort also mixes music video footage to help tell the story, albeit a little more disjointed than how the songs seem to blend so perfectly. Grave Danger primarily uses the beat of Katy Perry's "The One That Got Away," while relying heavily on Gerard Way's vocals on "Helena." It works surprisingly well, and the mashup artist even allows for some of Perry's own vocals to sneak in here and there. Even My Chem's funeral procession choreography from their video synchs up well with the beat. Have a look and listen in the player below.

My Chemical Romance have injected some new life in their career of late, recently announcing their reunion. While only one 2019 dates in on the books for Los Angeles just before the Christmas holiday, the group has been slowly revealing more shows in 2020, with their efforts so far seemingly tied to music festivals.
