Another week and another confirmed report of Chronic Wasting Disease CWD) in Montana's deer population. The Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks officials said three deer harvested in Blaine County tested positive for CWD. The deer were taken in the northern part of Blaine County, north of US Highway 2. The hunters who submitted the samples were notified of the test results.

The TRZ (Transport restrict zone) now includes Toole, Liberty, Hill, Blaine and Phillips counties. Hunters are not to take animal brain or spinal cords out of the area. Though CWD has not been shown to be transmitted to humans, hunters are advised to not consume meat from animals taken in a CWD zone. More check stations have been added to the locations that will sample for CWD. The list of stations: Glasgow, Malta, Laurel, Chester, Shelby, Great Falls FWP office, South of Hall, and south of Phillipsburg.
