Missoula’s Garden City Shootout Returns but With Some Changes
Not gonna lie - it's been pretty awesome to have some restrictions lifted and see so many events get announced around Missoula recently. Small steps like the farmers markets being able to serve food this season.....to big steps like Logjam Presents announcing their first show in about year. Who knows, by next summer we might just be back to normal with big events like the Missoula Marathon. Fingers crossed!
A yearly Missoula tradition will return this summer.
I saw details of one Missoula tradition that will happen this year.....just on a scaled-back level. A yearly showcase of basketball skills has taken place in Missoula for 25 years. And after having to throw in the towel and cancel last year's tournament - the Garden City Shootout will return for the 2021 edition. But instead of a weekend full of basketball, this year's event will be shortened to just one day.
Southgate Mall will once again host the action as teams ranging from 2nd grade through adults take to the court and put their skills on display on June 19. Teams from all over compete in the tournament and it's all for a good cause, to raise money to support youth and family programs at City Life Community Center. The Facebook event page points out that "the tournament will be taking all COVID-19 precautions recommended by the CDC and Missoula City-County Health Department."
How to get on the court!
Space will be limited because it will only be a one-day tournament. You can register for the Garden City Shootout HERE.
