The Missoula County Attorney’s Office filed eight new criminal complaints this week. County Attorney Kirsten Pabst says two of those cases involved some form of violence.

“One defendant was charged with partner or family member assault third offense and assault with a weapon for allegedly threatening the victim with a baseball bat,” Pabst said. “Evidently, a child had run out and reported this event to a neighbor. Thankfully, the child and victim were uninjured. We charged an assault with a weapon case that included criminal mischief and obstructing a peace officer. In that case, the allegation is that the victim’s father, who is the defendant, was armed with knives and was breaking down doors at their home.”

According to Pabst, they also charged four property crimes and three of those were theft cases.

“Two defendants were charged with three counts each of theft for breaking into several storage units over the course of four months,” Pabst said. “They allegedly stole over $5,000 worth of property from those storage units. Another defendant was charged with theft and reckless driving. The defendant allegedly drove off in the victim’s vehicle and crashed into a fire hydrant. There was another case involving a charge of deceptive practices that involved theft of jewelry.”

In addition, Pabst says her office charged one felony DUI and one drug case that involved methamphetamine.
