On July 15, 2022, Missoula Police Department officers spoke with Jane Doe, who has an Order of Protection against 35-year-old David Bosler, issued on March 1, 2022, in Missoula County District Court. Police Public Information Officer Lydia Arnold explains.

“The Missoula Police Patrol Division and Detective Division have been investigating reports of stalking and violations of an order of protection,” Arnold said. “David Bosler has been charged and is being held at the Missoula County Detention Center on charges of felony stalking and misdemeanor violation of a protection order. Bosler is the respondent in a protection order. The victim reported and provided documentation outlying violations of the protection order.”

Doe reported to officers that Bosler had violated the OP on multiple occasions between its issuance and the date of her report. Doe indicated that Bosler sends her multiple messages a day, the content of which Doe characterized as “cruel”. Doe noted Bosler often threatens to publicly shame her.

Doe reported that she has attempted to work through these issues in the parties’ parenting plan case but has been unsuccessful, leading to her feeling trapped and unable to stop Boser’s behavior. Doe reported to officers that Bosler’s behavior has caused her significant mental distress because she feels as if she cannot escape him.

When Doe spoke with officers, they noted she was visibly crying and exhibited significant nervousness about whether Bosler would attempt to be in physical contact with her. Doe indicated she has sought the services of a therapist and missed work due to the impact Bosler’s actions have had on her.

“The victim articulated threats made by Bosler and showed the various impacts Bosler is having on their life by Bosler’s continued communication, showing up, and threats,” Arnold said. “Bosler has violated the order of protection in multiple ways, causing the victim to feel fearful and unsafe. This case is still under investigation with the Missoula Police Department Detective Division.”

Bosler was arrested and transported to the Missoula County Detention Center. When he arrived, he immediately called Doe twice. In the call, which Doe ended after 49 seconds, Bosler told Doe he was in jail and threatened her, telling Doe “you’re screwed, I’m coming back after you for everything now”.
