The Missoula County Attorney’s Office charged 17 new criminal complaints this week. According to County Attorney Kirsten Pabst, eight of those cases involved some form of violence and four of those fell under the interpersonal violence category.

“One was a partner or family member assault and there were three strangulation cases,” Pabst said. “In the non-family violent crime category, we charged four new cases as well. One was an aggravated assault. In that case, the defendant allegedly strangled a crisis stabilization worker. We charged a robbery case that occurred at a local casino. There was a criminal mischief case, and an assault and criminal mischief case.”

Pabst said those two cases involved road rage incidents and both defendants were charged criminally for the acts that occurred while they were in their vehicles.

“In the property crimes category, there were four new cases,” Pabst said. “There was a theft, an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and two criminal mischief cases. In the drugs crime category, we charged four new cases as well. One was possession with intent to distribute. In that case, the allegation is that the defendant possessed a substantial amount of cocaine.”

The three other drug cases involved possession of methamphetamine. Pabst said her office is also working on a handful of different trails and one started on Friday.
