We're still waiting for the weather to fully cooperate and make it feel like spring has hit with its full force. We've had glimpses here and there but we just can't seem to get in a groove with those sunny days. Maybe we just need something like the Clark Fork River Market to kick into gear so we can show Mother Nature that we plan to move on with or without her.

If you can believe it, we've hit that time of year again when the Clark Fork River Market is ready to start its season. Cue up the Saturday morning hangs at Caras Park, get ready for fresh flowers on the kitchen table, and plan on plenty of goodies to fill the fridge and pantry.

Here's the schedule, you better "market" down!

Saturday, May 7th will serve as the opening day for the Clark Fork River Market and it will once again be held at the west end of Caras Park - in the parking lot next to A Carousel for Missoula. The translation on that would be if you know where it was held last year, that's where it'll be held this year. The market will run from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturdays through September 24th. Then, hours will shift slightly as we hit the fall and for the month of October the market will be open from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

A press release from the market shares a list of things that will be featured at the weekly event:

The River Market provides Missoula and outlying communities an opportunity to buy high-quality, locally produced food and food products, including fruits and vegetables, meat, dairy products, fresh-baked bread, pastries, honey, salsa, jam, wool goods, nursery plants, flowers, and other wares from area farmers, ranchers, and food artisans.

It is one of the many unique Missoula experiences and a longtime staple of Missoula’s downtown. Last year, more than 148 unique vendors and musicians participated in the River Market.

Getting to the market

Visiting the Clark Fork River Market can be a great excuse to get some weekend exercise when you walk or bike to Caras Park. Taking the bus is another option.
