Mike’s Emmy Predictions For This Weekend

Hey everybody, the Emmys are this weekend!

I know less and less people watch these awards ceremonies every year, but I still have a blast with them - I don't really care who wins, I just like seeing an art form that I love get celebrated. Plus, it's fun to argue about, so there's that.

The Emmys honor the best of television, and while there's been some picks I've wildly disagreed with over the years, I can't deny that I still tune in to see what happens every year. (Except for that one year where they stupidly programmed the Emmys at the same time as the second-to-last episode of Breaking Bad was premiering - like, come on guys, know your audience).

So, here's some of the big categories, and who I think is going to take it on Sunday night.

Outstanding Drama Series

Will win: Game of Thrones

Should win: Better Call Saul

Outstanding Comedy Series

Will Win: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

Should Win: Veep

Outstanding Lead Actor, Drama

Will Win: Jason Bateman, Ozark

Should Win: Bob Odenkirk, Better Call Saul

Outstanding Lead Actress, Drama

Will Win: Sandra Oh, Killing Eve

Should Win: (I haven't seen most of the shows in this category, but Sandra Oh seems really good, let's give it to her)

Outstanding Lead Actor, Comedy

Will Win: Bill Hader, Barry

Should Win: Bill Hader, Barry - but if not him, Ted Danson for The Good Place

Outstanding Lead Actress, Comedy

Will Win: Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Veep

Should Win: Have you SEEN Veep? Give Julia Louis-Dreyfus all the Emmys.

So that's just a few of the categories, but there's plenty more - who do you think will take home the Emmy this year?
