Meth Continues to Play a Large Role in Missoula’s Weekly Crime

The Missoula County Attorney’s Office filed 11 new criminal complaints this past week. County Attorney Kirsten Pabst says drugs, particularly methamphetamine, played a significant role in a number of cases.

“In one, a defendant allegedly had meth hidden in her underwear upon her arrest,” Pabst said. “There was also heroin, baggies, and a scale located, indicating sales of drugs might be involved. There was another case in which the defendant who was a passenger in that vehicle, when the vehicle was pulled over, a syringe and a baggie fell out of the car.”

According to Pabst, there was another drug case that involved ecstasy and cocaine. There were a handful of other crimes as well.

“We had one endangerment case involving theft and fleeing from law enforcement,” Pabst said. “The defendant allegedly exchanged some drugs for a stolen car and then led officers on a high-speed chase. Finally, there was a handful of violent family interpersonal violent crimes. There was an assault with a weapon, aggravated burglary, strangulation, and then some partner or family member assault cases as well.”

Pabst says 10 separate counts were filed in that single strangulation case.
