LCD Soundsystem Reveal Details of New ‘American Dream’ LP
LCD Soundsystem fans, rejoice: your long wait for a new album from the group is almost over.
After a lengthy buildup, the group has revealed details of their long-anticipated fourth studio LP. Titled American Dream, the new set is scheduled to arrive Sept. 1 — more than seven years after the release of the previous LCD Soundsystem release, This Is Happening. You can take a look at the complete American Dream track listing below.
The announcement of the American Dream album, which will be accompanied by a European tour, follows roughly a year of intense anticipation regarding the reunited band's studio activity. They scrapped scheduled tour dates last August, reportedly in order to focus on new material, and debuted three new songs during their first 2017 show in April.
The following month, the group suddenly announced the impending release of two new songs from the upcoming LP, then posted the tracks — "Call the Police" and "American Dream" — at midnight on May 4.
Frontman James Murphy finally deemed the album "totally done" in a May 30 Facebook post, attributing the protracted delay to the difficulty of balancing one's rock star commitments against day-to-day responsibilities. "Sorry it took so long, honestly," he wrote. "I didn't think it would, but I, once again, underestimated the distractions inherent in touring and living a 'life.'"
