Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On December 7, 2025, Missoula Police Department Officers were dispatched to a report of theft at Walmart on Highway 93 S. Officers were informed via dispatch that the female, later identified as 30-year-old Taylor Kupka, was uncooperative and was leaving the store. Walmart staff were able to recover the items, and Kupka was heading towards Weeping Willow Dr.

An officer responded to the area and found Kupka. She admitted to just being at Walmart and stated, "I wasn't trying to steal anything. I literally was gonna pay for it." Kupka explained that she believed she had been profiled and was very upset.

Kupka said she went to get some items, went to the self-checkout, and was about to leave. As she was walking towards the door, someone started saying she had passed all checkpoints, and the cops were being called. Kupka said she was confused and was informed that her card didn’t go through and that she had done the same thing the previous week. Kupka was then placed under arrest and was transported to jail.

Officers Find Drugs at the Jail

Once at the jail, staff located a small plastic baggie of methamphetamine in Kupka’s coat. Another officer conducted an inventory search of Kupka’s backpack, finding it contained a pink zippered pouch with several syringes, tooter straws, and a glass pipe. Additionally, the bag contained four credit cards, which belonged to four separate individuals. The officer noted that Kupka had previously claimed ownership of the backpack, stating her whole life was in the backpack.

Meanwhile, another officer returned to Walmart to speak with the Asset Protection Investigator, who said she recognized Kupka from the previous week. She said Kupka had used the self-checkout, her card was declined, and she then attempted to leave without paying.

On this date, the investigator said she agreed to allow Kupka to run her card again, however, Kupka did not attempt to do that and instead walked out. The investigator provided a receipt for the items, which totaled $453.38. Kupka had not even tried to pay for everything in the cart and had used a tent to cover some items. The investigator described the covered items as a tent, shoes, and a wrench, which totaled $285.
