Man Threatens Customers With a Knife in Missoula
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On February 9, 2025, Missoula Police Department Officers were dispatched for a person to be removed from WinCo. The complainant said a male wearing a flannel jacket with a grey hood and had bags on the ground near him on the northeast corner of the building. They said the male was holding a knife and shouting at other individuals. One customer reported the male threatened them with the knife, but the customer was no longer on scene.
An officer arrived and did not observe a male matching the description on the northeast corner of the building. However, the officer located a male on the northwest corner of the building wearing all camouflage, a grey hood, and bags all around him. Other officers who arrived on scene spoke to employees of WinCo, who confirmed the male viewed by the officer was the suspect.
The officer contacted the male who identified himself as 64-year-old Norman Pulliam. The officer detained Pulliam due to safety reasons and asked where the knife was. Pulliam said the knife was in his front right jacket pocket and gave the officer permission to retrieve it.
While looking into the pocket for the knife, the officer observed a hypodermic needle and a glass methamphetamine pipe with residue. Then the officer arrested Pulliam. During a search incident to arrest, a small yellow-ish envelope with a baggie containing a clear crystal-like substance was located on Pulliam’s person. The officer recognized the substance to be methamphetamine based on her training and experience.
According to court documents, the officer did not find a knife on Pulliam’s person. However, a knife was located inside a WinCo shopping cart next to Pulliam’s backpack and a reusable shopping bag.
