Finally! Montana Gas Prices Drop for the 4th Time in 2025
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - So far this year, average gas prices in Montana have increased in 19 out of 22 weeks. This week, prices have finally dropped. Patrick De Haan is the head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, and he provided the current numbers.
“Average gasoline prices in Montana have fallen 1.6 cents in the last week, averaging $3.18 per gallon today,” De Haan said. “Prices in Montana are 4.2 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 22.1 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.”
As of Monday morning, many stations in Missoula had their prices set to around $3.19 per gallon.

According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Montana was priced at $2.82 per gallon yesterday, while the most expensive was $4.09 per gallon.
Montana is currently ranked 12th in the U.S. when it comes to the average price of gas, which is the same spot as last week.
“The national average price of gasoline has decreased 1.8 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.07 per gallon today,” De Haan said. “The national average is down 5.2 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 32.8 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has decreased 1.7 cents in the last week and stands at $3.45 per gallon.”

De Haan said average gas prices declined in nearly all states over the last week as refineries ramped up output and gasoline supplies surged.
“While a few states experienced price cycling, a pattern where prices drop sharply and then spike every couple of weeks, the overall gentle downward trend is typical as summer progresses,” De Haan said. “If oil prices continue to rise gradually, it could eventually impact gas prices, but for now, we likely won’t see any major shifts at the pump in most areas this week.”
