Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On November 5, 2022, at approximately 11:45 a.m., a Missoula Police Department officer responded to the Poverello Center for a reported disturbance between two females. When the officer arrived, he observed one female bleeding and holding her face. Police Public Information Officer Lydia Arnold picks up the story.

“Ellen Caye was taken into custody on charges of attempted aggravated assault, assault, and obstructing a peace officer,” Arnold said. “The victim reported Ellen Caye struck her multiple times after the victim told Caye to stay away from her boyfriend. The incident was caught on video surveillance and the officer was able to observe Caye and the victim exchange words. Caye is seen walking away and then returns and blindsides the victim with a physical attack.”

According to Arnold, officers were told that Caye had already theft the scene.

“Later in the day, officers responded to another incident, which took place in the 800 block of West Broadway,” Arnold said. “The victim reported two females, whom he recognized from prior contact, started following him and physically attacked him after he took money out of the ATM. The victim could sense he was being followed. He turned and saw Caye and the other female following him. It was reported Caye began punching the victim while the other female took the money and a hat from the victim.”

The victim said the females ran to the Clark Fork Inn and entered a room.

“Officers went to the hotel room and a male answered, but he was uncooperative with officers,” Arnold said. “The male told officers that Caye was not in the room. Officers obtained a search warrant and located Caye inside the hotel room under the bed along with other items that corroborated the reported crime.”

Court documents indicate the officers were unable to locate the hat or money inside the room. Caye is currently being charged with felony attempted aggravated assault, assault, and obstructing a peace officer. The other female involved in this case faces misdemeanor charges.
