Missoula Mayor Named One of USA TODAY’s 2025 Women of the Year
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - USA Today has named first-term Missoula Mayor Andrea Davis as one of the top 2025 Women of the Year.
I spoke to Mayor Davis as she was standing in the Capitol Rotunda in Helena on Friday, not long after the Great Falls Tribune featured her in a front-page article.
Missoula Mayor Andrea Davis Named by USA Today as One of 50 Top Women
“I was contacted by a journalist working for the Great Falls Tribune on behalf of USA Today, saying that I have been recognized as one of 50 women who have made a significant impact in their communities and across the country, and I was just so honored to have been recognized,” began Davis. “We did an interview, and they came and took some photographs, and lo and behold, it hit the news this week.”
Davis said the article was prompted by her successful first foray into the city of Missoula politics.
“Basically, it was covering my launch into being a first-term mayor, the success that I had as a candidate, and the overwhelming work really that came from the voters of Missoula for obviously voting me in in 2023,” she said.
Davis Said the USA Today was Impressed With Her First Successful Foray in Politics
Davis was proud to have been singled out for the work she and her administration have done since winning her very first political contest.
“I think what's great is that our work here locally, really has now had a national spotlight on it,” she said. “People are seeing progress and success in how we're approaching what's a really fundamental aspect to creating more opportunity, really for people.”
Mayor Davis recalled her first weeks in office when she traveled to Harvard for the Program for New Mayors, the first 100 days.
She Referenced her Being Chosen by the Bloomberg Leadership Initiative
“You know, I'm a part of the Bloomberg program, the City Leadership Initiative, and as a result of that, we have connections with mayors all over the United States, Canada, Mexico, well, all over the world, quite frankly,” she said. “It was a nice opportunity to be able to share with them (her fellow mayors) about this honor and this recognition, and so I haven't had the chance to do that yet, but it's my intention to do that.”
Mayor Davis was driving back to Missoula Friday afternoon after attending the Montana State legislative session in Helena.
