As someone who has little to no artistic talent, I am envious of those gifted with the skills of a profound artist. On top of my lame jealousy for the gifted, I'm also intrigued with art people produce.

And if people's art can be used as a fundraiser it makes it that much better.

I'm friends with the monster...

The 9th annual Zootown Arts Community Center (ZACC) Monster Project is still a few months away (Friday, October 6th), but I wanted to highlight some of the monsters drawn last year. Because who doesn't love a good monster drawing?

Chris Wolfe wrote about the event's details to fill you in on the event's details, but the idea behind the Monster Project is creativity for the kiddos.

"They have an assignment to draw a monster," said ZACC Marketing & Events Director Mikyla Veis. "And they describe their monster, what it likes to eat, where it likes to go, what it likes to do. And then the monster is assigned to an adult artist who signed up."

In the end, the kid's version is displayed next to the adult's version at their gallery. Not only is it a fun, creative gallery but it's also a benefit to education at the ZACC."

"It's also a fundraiser for our education program. We sell the monsters that the adults created and that money goes back into scholarships for kids and general ZACC education for youth," expressed Veis.

The ZACC distributes over 30 thousand dollars to scholarship programs every year.

Here are some of the awesome drawings from last year's Monster Project. All pictures are courtesy of Veis and the ZACC.

Beautiful monsters

Those are some fantastic beasts. McDonald's should select the top picture as their next marketing campaign. I love the mustache-wielding ghost with the crayon. That guy is just happy to be here. I don't know what his name is but he looks like a Salvatore.

Great work to everyone involved, and I can't wait to see this year's products.
