What the Pink Game Means to U of Montana Lady Griz Players, Fans
It's never a big, grandiose ceremony. And those being honored would probably tell you that's just fine with them.
Not to say that it isn't moving. The honor, recognition and love being bestowed upon some pretty courageous women will give those heartstrings of yours a bit of a tug. And if it all inspires the team to play their hearts out even more than they already do...well, bonus!
Assistant marketing director Gabi Toulon tells us that The University of Montana Lady Griz basketball team will be hosting their annual Pink Game, this Thursday, February 6 at 7:00 p.m. The Lady Griz will be hosting Northern Colorado in Big Sky Conference action.
Survivors of cancer will join the team on court prior to the game's start, around the National Anthem and introduction of their starting line-up. They are also planning to play a video of who assorted members of the Lady Griz are "playing for" that evening, whether it's a friend, family member or someone who has inspired them during their battle with cancer.
Fans will be encouraged to get screened at Advanced Imaging, one of the University of Montana's marketing partners. The Fighter Cam will show fans filling out an "I stand for: (insert name here)" sheet and they can recognize someone they know who has battled or is currently battling breast cancer.
Other on-court recognition is tentatively scheduled for halftime. If someone in your life has been stricken with cancer, we know you will be inspired by those in attendance who have faced the challenge head-on.
Tickets to the game will be available at the door of the Adams Center, starting one hour before tip-off. You can also get tickets in advance on this page of the Montana Grizzly website.
