ATTENTION MISSOULIANS. DOWNTOWN WILL BE UNDER CONSTRUCTION.

The City of Missoula sent out a press release informing us of construction taking place in Missoula next week. It will impact travel and traffic in the downtown area and beyond.

"The City of Missoula is advising commuters of traffic impacts in downtown Missoula during the week of Jan. 12-16 due to street work related to the Downtown Safety, Access and Mobility (Downtown SAM) project," said the City of Missoula's press release.

Here are the areas that will be impacted by the downtown construction:

  • Higgins Avenue between Brooks Street and Broadway Street
  • Front Street, Main Street, and Orange Street convergence
  • The play area under the Beartracks Bridge.

The good news is that none of the areas impacted will be closed to traffic next week. There will be some lanes closed off, but "full street closures are not expected."

"Please be extra cautious when driving through this area as workers will be present and working in and around traffic."

Be respectful, Missoula. Let the construction workers do their job and move out of the way. Nobody likes construction, and we love to complain about it, but you'll be ok, I promise.
