Two very important dates regarding the sky are coming up that you should mark on your calendar. The first date is Saturday October 14th, 2023, that is when the next annual solar eclipse is to occur. The other important date is Monday April 8th 2024, when North America will see a total solar eclipse.

Montana Will Have a View of the Annual Solar Eclipse

The path of the annual solar eclipse will be visible in Montana. Depending on where you are in the state, according to NASA, you will be able to see anywhere from 50% to almost 80% of the eclipse. The annual solar eclipse is when the moon passes between the sun and the moon, but it is when the earth is further away from the sun so the moon appears smaller and doesn't fully block out the sun.

You Will Have to Travel to See the Total Solar Eclipse in It's Entirety

North America will see a total solar eclipse in April, 2024. According to NASA this is what you can expect from a total solar eclipse:

A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. People located in the center of the Moon’s shadow when it hits Earth will experience a total eclipse. The sky will darken, as if it were dawn or dusk.
