For a lot of the artists that have written about Montana, most of them have at least been to the state for their inspiration. Jimmy Buffet, for example, played the Aber Day Kegger in Missoula back in 1976. Did that inspire some of the lyrics to his song, "Miss You So Badly", where he name drops Missoula?

Jewel Is Coming Back To Western Montana

The artist Jewel is coming back to Montana to play a sold-out show at the Kettlehouse Amphitheater this summer with Melissa Etheridge on July 11th, will she write a "Bonner Song"? When she played the Wilma Theater in Missoula back in 2010 she sang "The Missoula Song" with lyrics inspired by the city.

There is another artist who is maybe not as well known as Jimmy Buffet or Jewel who has made an entire album about the towns of Montana. He is known as the "Guy Who Sings Songs About Cities & Towns".

The Montana Album is Epic

His album of songs about Montana contains 50 songs about our cities and towns both big and small. Of course he included songs about Billings, Bozeman, Missoula, Great Falls, and Butte (Butte! Butte! Butte! is very popular). He goes much deeper than that, there are songs about Havre, Miles City, Anaconda, Sidney, Stevensville, Glasgow, Conrad and so much more.

He looks up the towns and cities on Google and then writes songs about them. The songs are funny, entertaining and always positive, and they are short too.

If You Want An Uplifting Song About Montana Towns Give Him A Listen

For example when he sings about Malta, Montana, he reminds us that it is located in Phillips County and it is where "routes 2 and 191 meet". He occasionally throws in a zip code in his songs. Whether you think he's a genius or just entertaining, either way, if you ever want an uplifting song about Three Forks, Columbus or Glendive, give him a listen.
