Montana’s Trickiest Town Names: How Many Can You Spell Without Google?
Spelling has become a bit of a lost art. Yes, you can still watch the Scripps National Spelling Bee Championships and marvel at how fast and accurate the champs are, but I don't think I'm alone when I say I don't spell as well as I used to.
Thanks to autocorrect, spelling has become one of those skills that has fallen by the wayside. That, and remembering people's phone numbers.
But there are times you still need to spell something correctly...like when the word is so unique that even autocorrect doesn't recognize it. You know, like when you're typing a town name into Google Maps.
True story: I was driving to Washington a few months ago and wanted to see how many miles it was between Missoula and Couer d'Alene (I had to look up the spelling just to write that). I tried three times to put the city name into Google Maps. I was so far off it didn't recognize it.
Montana has town names that are difficult to spell too. The website 24/7Wallstreet put together a list of the hardest towns to spell in each state and interestingly, according to them, Montana's hardest town to spell is also the hardest to pronounce.

While it's not the most difficult one to spell on their list, (it's ranked #26) it is a town that's pretty hard to spell.
