Missoula is going to be hopping this weekend, literally and figuratively, and there’s no shortage of ways to get out and enjoy it.

Experience the Magic of the International Wildlife Film Festival

One of the biggest highlights is the International Wildlife Film Festival, which returns for its 49th year from April 18t through April 23. This is one of those signature Montana events that’s more than just movies. It’s an experience. We’re talking incredible wildlife films, thought-provoking storytelling, and even art exhibits that are worth carving out time to see.

If you swing by the Roxy Theater gallery, you’ll find some truly standout artwork tied into the festival. It’s a great way to soak in a little extra creativity while you’re downtown.

Join the Unique Wild Walk Parade: A Celebration of Nature

Things officially kick off with the Wild Walk parade Saturday, and the weather is shaping up perfectly for it. This isn’t your typical parade either. It actually runs in reverse, heading toward the Higgins Avenue “Xs” instead of away from them. Expect to see participants hopping, walking, and crawling their way through downtown in full wildlife spirit.

This year, organizers have teamed up with the Clark Fork Coalition to pair the fun with a meaningful cause. Families can take part in the annual Clark Fork River cleanup in the morning, which wraps up around 11:00 a.m. Then head over to Caras Park to get lined up for the Wild Walk parade, which starts at 11:30.

A Weekend Packed with Events: More Than Just Films

And that’s just part of the weekend lineup. You’ve also got the Kyi-Yo Powwow, a major sports and trading card show, and plenty of other events bringing energy to town.
