When temperatures rise outside my taste buds have a tendency to change. On a hot spring or summer day, I don't normally reach for a soup or a stew. They usually just sit in my cupboard until it becomes more "stew weather".

Even though it doesn't look like we will have "stew weather" soon, you should check your cupboards for this latest recall. Hormel Foods has recalled 256,185 pounds of their beef stew, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The specific stew that's being recalled is the 20-oz. Dinty Moore Beef Stew with "BEST BY FEB 2028" and lot code "T02045" printed on the cans.

Dinty Moore Beef Stew Recall

The reason for the recall is the items in question may be contaminated with a foreign material, specifically pieces of wood. At this time there have been three reports of consumers finding material in the stew. There have been no reports of injury due to consuming the food.
