Montana Be Aware: Costco Cold and Flu Medicine Recall

You can count on a few things with winter in Montana. There will be slick roads, there will eventually be snow, and people will get sick. The flu season is underway across the state. That isn't all; we have also seen an increase in Norovirus cases in Montana.

My house has been filled with sniffles, coughing, and sneezing for the past few weeks and I have heard from more than a few people that they have had the flu. Before you reach for that cough medicine, you should be aware that there is a recall of the Kirkland brand cold and flu medicine sold at Costco.

According to Costco, there was a specific lot of the "Kirkland Cool Blast Severe Cold & Flu Plus Congestion" medicine that may have "foreign material contamination". The recall is being issued out of an abundance of caution. You can see the information, including the lot number included in the recall, below.

Costco is asking people who purchased the product to return it to the store to get a full refund and to not ingest the medications. For questions about the recall consumers can call 1-800-426-9391, or email complaints-inquiries@lnkintl.com.

It is not too late for people to get their flu shot, which can help prevent the flu this time of year. Montana's flu season typically peaks between the end of January and the beginning of February, according to Montana's Department of Health and Human Services.
